Web Apps, Blogs, CMS, Web 2.0 Sites

You're not a hosting provider. Nor should you be. But behind your sites and apps sits hardware and infrastructure which someone needs to handle. And if what you're doing is complex enough, you sooner or later don't want to mess with the distraction of this full-time responsibility. But no worries, our Managed Hosting solutions take the hardware out of your hands without taking the flexibility, customization and OS access you need day-to-day to do what you do best.
"Everything Rackspace has put into place to support us has been a 100%, first-rate, no compromise solution. And they're offering all this for just a little more than I'm already paying for a (hosting) solution that's keeping me up at night."

Bill Dalton, Firefly Digital

Create What You Will. Just Don't Create a Server Nightmare for Yourself.

We're here to make your life easier. That happens with nonstop expert support and technology solutions at your beck and call. When it's all said and done, that mainly translates into four important things. First, no downtime. Next, you get lots of flexibility with the physical requirements of the configuration. Also, you're free to run customized apps or sites—unlike the closed architecture of a cloud. And lastly, security and data isolation are taken care of whether it's for regulatory reasons or just for your own sanity.

Sites and apps come in all shapes, sizes and kinds. And we have limitless options to fit whatever it is that you're doing. We can design, build and deploy a customized configuration that can isolate multiple sites that you can bill and support separately. We even make it pretty simple to isolate your test and dev environments from your production environments in one server or in multiple servers. That, in itself, is a gift of budget and time efficiency.

Bloggers, developers, designers and others take notice. If you want to get out of the hardware support business, Rackspace hosting solutions are here to save your day.

Insider Tips for
Designers & Developers
1. The Not-so-Secret Cost of Hardware
Many people that host their own environments do so at a loss. They don't recoup the costs of buying the hardware, maintaining it and replacing it. Not to mention they'll never recover the time spent being a slave to their hardware. It's understandable if you feel like you want the control rather than giving it up to a hosting provider. But at what cost? Find a reliable provider with a good reputation for service and uptime, and you could find big savings and less stress.

2. Down, Down and Away
It boils down to uptime. No matter how good the apps and sites you create are, it means nothing if they can't stay online. If you experience downtime, you could take a big hit—whether it's your fault or a hosting provider's. Your customers, users and visitors don't care. Uptime takes nonstop monitoring, support and technical resources. Make sure you can realistically handle this if you're doing it yourself. If you opt for a hosting provider, make sure they can do it. Get beyond their websites and ask them the tough questions about their uptime history, how they define support and who's in the data center on New Year's Eve in the event something goes down.

3. Planning and Growing in a Managed Hosting Solution
You should be looking at Cloud options, too. They might be just what you're looking for. One of the determining factors will be how quickly you grow. If you have steady, planned growth or predictable seasonal growth, managed hosting solutions can scale to handle the traffic when you need it. If your traffic load is all over the place and you can't even begin to predict how much computing power you'll need to meet the demand, putting your sites and apps in the cloud is probably more rational. Weigh this against your other criteria for security, flexibility of the hardware and the ability to run customized apps and sites.
